of contamination of water supplies, especially those which receive
contamination from sewage and industrial wastes.
Chemical Oxygen
Demand refers to the amount of oxygen, expressed in parts per
million, consumed under specific conditions in the oxidation of
the organic and oxidisable inorganic matter contained in industrial
waste water.
